About The Fund
Act No. 2015-226 authorizes the county commission to levy and distribute a one percent sales and use tax for community service grants. Allocated funds are distributed amongst Jefferson County delegates with the goal of promoting the general welfare of the district. To meet criteria, the use of these funds must serve a public purpose; support that purpose, financially or otherwise; and benefit the citizens of Jefferson County. Specific purposes include the support of public facilities, such as schools, parks, museums, and neighborhood associations; performing arts organizations; United Way agencies; police and fire departments; and assistance programs for low-income sewer customers.
Fund allocations decisions are at the discretion of each legislator. Contact your senator or representative if you are interested in submitting your project for consideration.
